Parkview

This project explores the potential of a top-floor flat in an apartment building situated on the outskirts of Royal Tunbridge Wells. The current two-bedroom, two-bathroom flat has not undergone a renovation since the 1970s and urgently requires modernisation. Its outdated and inefficient layout necessitates a significant transformation. The flat enjoys a scenic parkland view, which influences the proposed interior layout and design. Two new view axes have been established: one from the kitchen through the living room to the parkland, and another from the entrance through the hallway to the dining area/kitchen.

By merging the existing living room with the guest bedroom and relocating the kitchen to the former guest bedroom’s location, an open-plan living room/kitchen/dining area has been created. The guest bedroom has been moved to the former kitchen and equipped with an additional ensuite bathroom. The shared bathroom has undergone a remodel to enhance its size and efficiency. Additionally, the master bedroom and its ensuite bathroom have been redesigned to provide a more logical layout. The interior finishes are a blend of plywood, terrazzo, and metal-framed joinery, complemented by muted colour paint finishes that evoke a serene and natural ambiance.
